THE CAMERA MAKER

The Camera Maker is an experimental audiovisual piece inspired by John Cage's writing on experimental music and the techniques one can employ to remove themselves from their work. It was made while I was enrolled in UCC's 'MA in Experimental Sound Practice'.

For the piece I filmed a pre-determined number of shots, and developed a Max/MSP patch to randomly determine the order in which the shots would be edited. There was no limit on how many times a single shot could reappear, and the film would end once every shot had appeared. Shot in Cork city, soundtrack comprised entirely of sync sound recorded by the camera.
